Floral Botanical
I created the quilt with 100% cotton fabric and used cotton/polyester thread. I replicated the picture of a large, floral unquilted bed spread identified as J.S.1865. The picture was in a book of flowers that I had over 30 years ago. I tore the page from the book. I created this quilt over the past two years, finishing it this fall.

The quilt is a replication from a picture of an applique quilt. I created the patterns for the flowers from the picture. I have no record of the book the picture of the quilt was published in.
Artist Statement
When I began applique work, over 15 years ago, I became interested in creating applique flowers. I enjoy blending the shades of colors in the petals and in positioning the flowers, buds and leaves so they look realistic. This quilt has over 25 floral elements, and making it challenged my interest.
