TheQuiltShow.com released this quilt by the late Sue Garman, a nationally known quilt designer, quilt judge, and a fellow Houstonian as the show's block of the month pattern for 2020. TheQuiltShow.com released a pattern section of the quilt every month. I was challenged to make this quilt and worked on it throughout 2020 with a goal to be completed by May of 2021. Although we had a pattern to follow, and a fabric kit was available, we were encouraged to make it our own so I used fabrics in my stash, did not have to buy anything new except for the backing fabric. I designed two of the applique blocks and I didn't like the plain border with the pattern so I found a pattern for a different border. This resulted in having close to 4900 pieces of fabric in the center and 1120 pieces in the border I chose to use.. I completed it in June 2021. My quilting bee, The Cotton Pickin' Bee, was a source of encouragement to get this quilt made, otherwise I might not have finished it.
