Artist Statement
This paper-pieced quilt began with the Lakeshore Sunrise pattern designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer of Judy Niemeyer Quilting/Quiltworx, but was expanded to include three additional borders, one of which is a pieced chevron, which increased it to a queen size at 100” square. The center is an exploded lone star design with circling flying geese blocks. The fabrics are printed cotton from the Timeless Treasures’ Wildflower Collection and feature hummingbirds, bird feeders, butterflies, plant life, and spiders. [Do you see the spider close to the center in the orangey-red section?] The machine quilting was done using various digitized designs that are commercially available. The colors are bright and vibrant… just how you’d like your beautiful garden to be!
