Artist Statement
I attended a class featuring the Arizona Cactus foundation paper piecing pattern by Judy Niemeyer. What a challenge to complete! I learned so much with this project. I selected the fabrics from my stash, and really tried to improve my skills in selecting fabrics that offered the right amount of contrast. I really love the final product! Judy Niemeyer develops very intricate patterns and has a systematic way of keeping everything straight and organized, breaking down each part into a small step.
I began quilting after I retired and have really enjoyed making quilts for friends and family. I belong to the Bluebonnet Area Quilt Guild in Bellville, and the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild in LaGrange.
