Peace Angel, Machine Quilting
Peace Angel
Peace Angel - Pattern designed by Kimberly Rado, pieced and quilted by Lisa Taylor

Angels are machine pieced using various aboriginal fabrics on primarily Moda Grunge; colors selected to highlight each particular aboriginal design. Appliqué faces are from 100% Merino wool. Border fabric is Uncorked Chocolate Brown Metallic from Windham Fabrics. Batting is one layer 80/20 and one layer wool. Each angel is ditched using Superior monopoly thread. Various 40 wt. quilting threads were used for quilting. Quilting designs are digital patterns customized to fit the pieces using my Innova long arm.

Artist Statement
I knew when I first saw this unique pattern I wanted to create it from my favorite aboriginal fabrics. The fabrics were selected from my stash, and piecing was completed at Chantilly Lace Quilt Retreat in Willis, Texas. I enjoyed the multiple techniques employed in this quilt, particularly adding the hand appliquéd and embroidered faces on each angel.

Just as we are all made from different cloth, I wanted my quilt to reflect the joining of hands and hearts unburdened by cultural and ethnic diversity.
